Condo, Apartment or Dorm?

When I was in college I had a hard time trying to choose between the three.

A dorm is quite cheap and practical, but you’d have to live and deal with room mates. An apartment is a little more expensive since you’d have to pay for electricity and water consumption and the condo is usually the most expensive and most luxurious one between the three.

I tried living on a dorm and I stayed there for a year, but at some point I almost wanted to skin my room mates alive for I just couldn’t deal with their mess. I ended up sticking to an apartment since it’s not as expensive as a condo. I found the increase in payment more worth it than the stress and depression having annoying room mates could give.

The History of the Concept of Property

Way back during the primitive era, everything was conjugal. The people from that era knew how to share things. They were nomads. They lived life pretty simply, being the parasites of nature, as historians call it, for they simply move from one place to another as long as the resources began to deplete slowly each day, that it reaches the point where it can’t support them anymore.

Then people discovered farming, or how to plant things. The concept of property began here. The surplus from the plants that they have rooted from the ground became theirs, and they stopped sharing. People who needed the surplus from the ones who have them only was able to pay through labor. Eventually the concept of property evolved to feudal property, and to what we are now today.

The Qualities of a Good Restaurant

I’ve decided to spend my time to write about what an ideal restaurant has for me. I’ve had my fair share of dining in restaurants, and these are the things that my friends and I usually look for in a resto.

1. Ambiance. I personally don’t want to sit in a place outside the street where I could breathe in smoke that cars on the road emit or walls full of termites or cockroaches, it just doesn’t help my appetite.

2. Service with a Smile. Who would want to eat something that a waiter who is frowning gave to you, anyway?

3. Birthday Treats. I personally want to make birthdays a little special, having the staff of a restaurant sing happy birthday with guitars and tambourines wouldn’t be so bad.

4. Cleanliness. Clean utensils, tables and chairs are a big plus! We must consider hygiene in all cases, people!

5. Good, Presentable Food. What good would everything else be without the scrumptuous and beautiful meal?!

I guess those are the basics. I’m a pretty shallow person, like everyone else. If you own a restaurant and you think your restaurant has these qualities, then I give you my two thumbs up!

Location, Location, Location!

Location is one of the things that a commercial business worries about when they’re about to start. They’d have to answer questions such as ‘Would we have enough customers to gain a reasonable amount of profit?’ or ‘Is there enough competition to raise interest in our business but not too much for us to lose customers?’. Starting a business isn’t easy, since you would really have to consider even the puniest detail.

You can’t just invest your money on something even if you know you’d lose everything you worked hard for.

The Benefits of Books

Books are actually one of the greatest things where you could raise profit from. You could learn a lot of things from them if you know how to choose wisely.

Other books may not exactly help you to raise money or teach you how to earn, but they can help you free your mind from the stress that everything around you gives.

For me, earning money while enjoying what you’re doing is one of life’s greatest pleasures.

Cars: Asset or Liability?

Today, commercial ads are mostly about cars, and it got me thinking: are cars worth all the money? Sure, it saves us the trouble of falling in line in taxi stands and sitting on public transportation while sniffing on the sweaty armpits of the person next to you, but you have to consider the fact that you’d also have to pay for the maintenance of the car and parking fees!

I’d prefer riding a bike, but nowadays, riding a bicycle actually turns you into an instant roadkill (well for me at least). I’ve seen too many car accidents with bicycles involved and I can really say that it’s not pretty (it’s actually given me many nightmares!), so I just stick with public transportation. Even though it has disadvantages, you could actually save the environment AND save money, too!

Groceries Galore

I have a little trick that I could teach you, readers, about shopping for groceries. Normally, people would either make a grocery list and stick with it or be entirely spontaneous and grab the things that they see if they either like it or need it.

I do my shopping a little differently. I write all the things I need down, and set a budget before going to the supermarket. When I get there I shop and grab all the items on my list, and separate the things I just see and end up craving for. As I reach the cashier, I get all the things I need punched first, and see if my budget allows me to purchase the things I don’t need but want, and if it does, I buy them.

I’ve ended up saving a lot of money with this method, feel free to try it yourself.

DSLR: Is It Really Worth It?

I’ve been writing the pros and cons for a DSLR to see if it’s actually worth it. So far I’ve only come up with this:

1. It’s too expensive for a camera.

2. I’m someone passionate about photos and I love the fact that I get to keep every single detail about that special moment on a single photo.

3. It’s too bulky and heavy, therefore it attracts the attention of many snatchers.

4. Even if they’re bulky and heavy, there are DSLRs that are as small as digital cameras, too! There’s just a wide variety of them around.

Outweighing these pros and cons is actually quite hard, but then again, I do believe that the joy of doing something you love outweighs everything else. It’s just different for all of us anyway.

Sex Sells

Let’s face it.

Sex sells, just like I said in this entry’s title. It’s rare to find advertisements nowadays where a naked man or woman doesn’t exist. It is undoubtedly one of the most effective strategies of marketing in the world.

It’s sad, really, how we all are driven by our libidos. You can’t deny it, gender and sexuality exists in almost all aspects in life. We call people sexist, most of the terms we generally use are in favor of males, so we can’t really help it anyway.

The question is, why do men find curvy women attractive? Studies say that bigger breasts and hips, (generally a voluptuous figure) are signs of fertility, and, well, we have sexual organs to procreate, therefore, seeing a very shapely body turns us on in a way.

We can’t deny ourselves of our nature, and I guess this is why sex sells, up to this day.

Debt and the Problems It Causes

I’ve always feared debts inside me. Do you want to know why?

Not only do they result in lawsuits if taken lightly or for granted, but they also end up destroying trust and ruining friendships. Sure, there are debts out there that offer you low rates or even zero percent interest, but do you really think it’s worth it? Money or goods owed by a person to another isn’t always a good thing.

I’d rather spend money I have or saving up for it than drowning myself in debt just because I want to buy something.
